Welcome to Stewart Elementary, home of the “Stewart Stars”! Stewart Elementary School has been welcoming children and their families for over 50 years. Located just two blocks off of US Highway 81, Stewart School was built in 1966 on land where cornfields once grew. The school is located near the city park, swimming pool and Yankton Middle School. Lewis and Clark Lake and Gavins Point Dam are local attractions.
As one of 4 elementary schools in the Yankton School District, Stewart School currently enrolls 310 students in pre-school through fifth grade. Stewart is home to the district’s special education center housing Early Intervention, Resource Rooms One, Two and Three, Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapy.
Many families have chosen our school because of its moderate size, special education programs, visual arts focus, strong parent support and involvement, and the high quality education provided to our students by a highly qualified staff. Stewart Elementary is committed to providing a learning environment where students will meet and exceed academic standards, make thoughtful decisions, and solve problems. We are extremely proud of our students, both past and present, and equally proud of our faculty and staff.
Stewart School enjoys vigorous parent and community support. We have a strong and active PTA that helps sponsor and support many school wide activities. In addition to the PTA, parents and community members are actively encouraged to volunteer in classrooms through our ACT volunteer program.
Communication is important to us. Please contact us at (605) 665-5765 or stop in to visit our school at 208 West 21st Street, Yankton SD.
